Questions
Giving, answered
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid lets UK charities claim an extra 25p from HMRC for every £1 you give, at no extra cost to you. So a £20 gift becomes £25.
To qualify, you need to pay at least as much UK Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in the tax year as we claim on all your donations. Just tick the Gift Aid box, confirm the declaration and give us your home address.
Is it secure?
Yes. Card payments will be processed by Stripe, a certified payment provider trusted by charities around the world. Your card details go straight to Stripe over an encrypted connection; we never see or store them.
Can I change or cancel a monthly gift?
Of course, at any time and with no minimum term. Email info@otracosa.org and we'll change or cancel it straight away.
Where does my money go?
Straight to our work in Huanchaco and Cerrito de la Virgen, Northern Peru. Your gift pays for the everyday things that keep our HELP programmes running: classes and workshops, drinking water, snacks, school supplies, swimming lessons, beach cleans and the upkeep of our Recreational and Educational Centre.
Want to see real examples? Browse our gift catalogue or read about our projects.
Can I give by PayPal or bank transfer?
Yes. Email us and we'll send you our PayPal and bank transfer details.
Can I give from outside the UK?
Absolutely. Donations are taken in pounds sterling and your card provider converts the amount for you. Gift Aid is only available to UK taxpayers, so leave that box unticked.
